Week 6

On Monday, we read poetry from the students' poetry books. Each student has a notebook where they glue in poems given to them by Mrs. Carlson, then are read aloud in the group. Many of the poems are songs that can be sung to different songs like "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "If You're Happy and You Know It", so at times there was more singing than reading, which was so fun to listen to. On Tuesday, I spent time working with a student individually on a math worksheet. On Wednesday, the students worked on a rainforest animal scavenger hunt, where pictures of different rainforest animals were placed around the second-floor hallway. Upon finding an animal, the students would write the name of the animal in the level of the rainforest it lived in the forest floor, the understory, the canopy, and the emergent layer. I worked on math individually with more students on Thursday. Friday was another stuffed animal day, and I worked on literacy by reading books with students (along with their baby dolls)
